How It Works
Allelu! succeeds because it puts children at the center of the program’s format and structure. In addition to recognizing that children naturally seek a relationship with God, Allelu! respects the child by paying close attention to the unique ways in which young children learn about and live their faith. This includes offering additional activities and guidelines for children with special needs.

Hands On
The creators of Allelu! know that children learn best when they are experiencing and doing. Allelu! incorporates hands-on activities, arts, crafts, music, stories, pictures, and dramatic play to keep the children engaged and let them learn in the way that is most natural for them.

Natural Inclusion of Family and Community
Allelu! is mindful of the fact that God created us not only to be in relationship with him, but with one another. The program also recognizes that children’s first experiences of community are within their families, or the “domestic church.” That’s why Allelu! puts great emphasis on bringing catechesis home with activity sheets, prayers and rituals that carry the lessons into the child’s family to reinforce and support parents’ role as primary educators of the Faith. There is even a guide for parents and families called “Catholic Parent Know-How: Bringing Allelu! Home” that is a perfect introduction for parents on what to expect for themselves and their child from Allelu!
Room Set-up:
Every situation can be different based on the availability of dedicated space and Allelu! can adapt to any environment. While it is always helpful to have the luxury of customizing a room to include posters, sacramentals, artwork and other activity based material for the children, the Allelu! Catechist/Teacher Guide includes suggestions for materials that can be easily carried and transferred from session to session. Plus, the use of intangibles like music, volunteers, and activity sheets can help transform any space into a fun learning environment.
